Connecting your ORCID iD to your Crowdhelix account allows you to use your ORCID credentials to easily sign in to Crowdhelix, and also gives you the option to import and save key personal details from your ORCID record to complete your Expert profile on Crowdhelix.

You can connect your ORCID iD as part of the account setup process when you first register for Crowdhelix, or at any time by accessing your Connection Settings.

Step by step

Option 1: Connect your ORCID iD whilst setting up your Crowdhelix account

Once you have registered for Crowdhelix and logged in for the first time, you will be given the option to connect your ORCID iD. You can proceed with this by clicking Connect ORCID iD, or you can skip this step by clicking No, thanks. If you skip this step, you can instead proceed to set up your expert profile on Crowdhelix.

If you chose to connect your ORCID iD, you are asked to sign in to the ORCID system using either your 16-digit ORCID iD or your email address, and the password you use to log in to your ORCID account. Once you have entered these, click SIGN IN.

On the ORCID signin page you can also recover your ORCID account credentials by clicking Forgot your password, or create your ORCID ID by clicking Register now if you do not yet have an account.

<aside> ⚠️ Your Crowdhelix and ORCID accounts are completely seperate, and so you should use different, strong, passwords for each one.

Once you have successfully signed in to your ORCID account, you will be taken back to Crowdhelix to complete your expert profile for the platform. If you have relevant information stored in your ORCID iD, it will have been imported and will appear in draft form in the various boxes on this page. However, you can add, remove, or edit all of the information on this page to set up your profile for Crowdhelix exactly as you would like it to appear to other users on the platform:

• Your job title at your Organisation
• A link to another online professional profile, for example one hosted on LinkedIn, ResearchGate, or your organisation’s website
• A short biography where you introduce yourself and your expertise
• Your areas of expertise in the form of keywords, which will be used by other users on Crowdhelix to find you, and by our intelligent recommender system to send you suitable collaboration Opportunities that are posted on the platform.

To add a keyword, begin typing it in the box. A list of matching keywords that already appear in the Crowdhelix database appears as you type. If you can see your intended keyword in the list, you can add it to the profile by clicking the keyword, or by pressing enter if it appears at the top of the list. If your intended keyword does not appear, you can instead press enter once you have finished typing it.

When you are happy with your expert profile, click Continue to proceed to set up your notification settings on Crowdhelix.
